As part of this approval, our paddock configuration, pasture management and manure systems were formally reviewed and approved, providing a compliant and professional foundation for racehorse spelling.

We offer paddock-based spelling designed to support weight gain, soundness and mental let-down between preparations, with a strong focus on land care and horse welfare.

 Our paddocks are irrigated and rotated, with generous space and minimal pressure, ideal for both straightforward spells and harder-keeping horses.

Broodmare Spelling

Oak Tree View offers broodmare spelling in low-density, high-nutrition paddocks within a Council App

 As part of this approval, our paddock layout, pasture management and manure systems have been formally reviewed and approved by the Shire of Harvey, confirming our paddock-based approach meets planning and environmental requirements.

This service is suited to open or in-foal mares requiring quality pasture, space and quiet management, without the intensity of a breeding or foaling operation.

  • Bring horses into a yard for appointments on-site (by arrangement)
     
  • Keep them on simple feeds or specific diets you choose
     
  • Manage rugging to your preferences.
     
  • Provide photo or message updates, so you know they’re relaxing, not rehabbing another problem.

Most racehorses benefit from at least 6–8 weeks off, but it depends on their workload, soundness and temperament. We’re happy to discuss what you and your trainer are aiming for. 


No, we don’t take stallions at Oak Tree View. 


Yes. We have options for individual turnout, small herds and bigger groups depending on what your horse needs and how social they are. 


Halter and lead, rugs/fly veil (if used), feed if on a specific diet, plus any supplements/medications and written instructions. 


Light handling, catching and basic care are included. If your horse needs a set rehab program (hand walking, bandage changes etc.), please talk to us — we can customise a plan or let you know if it’s outside our scope. 


Absolutely, we’re experienced with everything from wild, one-eyed colts to rodeo horses, racehorses, breeding stock, and even a whole herd of unhandled minis (and that's just our personal horses)
And honestly… if we can handle the minis, we can handle just about anything. 


Yes! We offer spelling for broodmares in low-density paddocks with quality pasture and daily care. 


 No. Broodmare agistment at Oak Tree View is spelling only. We do not offer breeding services, foaling down, assisted foaling or neonatal care, except for personal horses by prior arrangement. 


Yes. Yearlings and young horses may be accepted for spelling, subject to temperament, handling level, and suitability for a pasture-based environment.

 Trainer access is available by arrangement. Trainers may attend to assess or work their own horses where required, while maintaining a safe, well-managed and compliant environment. 


 Yes. We regularly accept racehorses spelling between preparations, including horses coming out of work that require a calm, paddock-based environment to let down and recover. 


 Stocking is managed within council-approved limits, with a focus on low-density paddocks, seasonal adjustments and pasture condition to ensure both horse welfare and land sustainability.
